The Beer Café

Blog One Twenty Eight

Place: Moment’s mall, Kirti Nagar, Second Floor

Ambiance: Lounge type

Beer for two: Rs 350

Parking: Yes

Confessions: I don’t drink.

Reason of my visit to this place: Friends

I was at The Beer Café with my friends today. The place looked nice and had enough space for a group of friends to sit, though, we were only three. The place is not like conventional beer cafes with everything in closed doors. This place is quite open and you are visible to everyone and everyone in mall is visible to you. (Take this thing seriously if you don’t want the world to know about your beer habits.)

The menu is quite vast as they not only serve beer, but, premium alcohol products too. They have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food on platter. Projectors are up there for those who may love live-matches on a big-screen. Apart from service-on-table, they also have self service kiosk where you can pour beer into yours mugs. Though, the number of brands available on self-service kiosk is limited to three only; whereas they serve more than 100 beer brands.

Now let me come to most important and annoying part of this place. It is fucking expensive.

Today, my friends ordered 2 Kingfisher premium beer and paid Rs 343 in total. Imagine 343 for two bottles of beer !

I understand this is a premium beer cafe, but, there has to be a reasonable amount. They charged Rs 250 for beer. Rs 25 for service charge. 20% of service tax. 4% of DVAT and 10% of another tax. Tax part is something no one can question, but, the exaggerated beer MRP and ten percent service charge is horrible.

I don’t know, how other beer bars work, but, this beer cafe has some extraordinary rates. I am not suggesting this place to anyone.

  1. This’s a first alcohol-related post that I’ve seen from a non-drinker. “I likes it” and I agree with you about the pricing. Its too expensive a place to have a pint of normal beer.
